Female Brass Power  - tenThing Brass Ensemble

Norwegian trumpet player Tine Thing Helseth formed the group-tenThing Brass Ensemble in 2007. She quickly established herself as one of the essential trumpet soloists in the music world.

We can still clearly find that the long history of Western classical music has come down to the fact that female composers and performers have held very few seats. Most of them recognize that brass instruments belong to men, while string music belongs to women.

In recent generations, women have finally been better able to participate in music composition-related training. Many great female composers have repeatedly challenged absurd gender stereotypes. After all, music culture reflects social reality. How do we adopt gender identities, and how to establish gender identities? It will be fascinating for female artists to broaden the existing rigid path in Western classical music that men have dominated for a long time. From the impasse of social reality, it will be an exciting topic.

  1. Irene,
I really appreciate this post. I've never heard of this group before. I appreciate how many groups are showcasing fantastic women in brass. Between Seraph Brass and now this group, I agree that women are finally starting to see some representation in brass.
I would have liked to see a bit more description as to who the group is - obviously they are all females, but from where? Where is the main place they perform/record/etc?
Thanks again for showing this group to me!
